Now. everyone who watches spongebob knows that it takes place in the fictional underwater city of "Bikini Bottom". What some people don't know, however, is that a group of 23 islands called "Bikini Atoll" were used for nuclear bomb testing in late 1945. Radiation from nuclear bombs is known to cause genetic mutations. Now what i think is the storyline is spongebob is that the radiation cause genetic mutation in the marine creatures around bikini atoll, giving the creatures intelligence, the ability to speak, and other human characteristics.
