Police officer: "Hey Darth? How come all your enforcers wear white?"
Vader: "It's a colour that evokes purity, cleanliness, goodness, and light. To show the people that these soldiers are for them, on their side, and doing what is right and just. If they believe that, they're less rebellious... Or at least that was the goal in mind when we picked the uniform design. We've had mixed results on the back end, I admit."
Police officer: "Okay, so why do you wear all black?"
Vader: "I have a different role. I'm here mainly to scare the shit out of people and intimidate them into fearful obedience. My uniform evokes terror and ancient beliefs of the Grim Reaper, come to kill them and take their very souls. Being covered in jet-black from head to foot encourages the belief that I'm not a mere, relatable human you could negotiate with, but some completely evil, terrifying, unreasoning monster. You wear this long enough, you start believing it yourself."
Police officer: "Interesting. Okay, so... why do US cops wear all black?"
