There's always a trade off. That a-hole might have money or other things we can see, but the question is how bad it is for them to live with themselves? And do they genuinely feel like it is worth it? Just food for thought.

Unfortunately I've met (and shared living space with) plenty of assholes who treat everyone like shit and can't grasp why no one is on their side when they have to face to direct consequences of it. Eviction to couchsurfing to eviction to lost job to horrible references to can't get a girlfriend because people google you in this day and age...
There are successful people who are also moderate assholes, but it's not being an asshole that made them successful, and if you're a bad enough and consistent enough asshole, you DO end up alone with no one left willing to help you... as is right and proper.
