Actually I believe those are hot sweet potatoes. They're eaten as snacks on cold days in Japan. Vendors sell them from carts like bags of popcorn.

Actually no, i figured it out:
She's trying to blow on the sweet potato to cool it down enough to eat, but her mask doesn't have a mouth.
He blows on it for her (startling her a bit).
Then she thanks him and blushes (kind of embarrassed that she forgot her mask had no mouth-hole).
