Most of the motivation for the 2nd time was generated by how badly they were treated by other countries after the first time. We tend to focus on the figurehead, but the population was quite ready to hear a message of "fight the people oppressing us!"
More to the point, consider it's now been 72 years since the end of WWII. Virtually every person who was a decision-making adult prior to that is dead and gone. Let the grudge go. It's not even yours to hold.
