the whole secret is DO NOT EAT, other tips are bullshit
true
that's hard -_-
No, of course not.
Not eating for long stretches just puts your body into calorie conservation mode; i.e. storing more fat in order to last longer before you literally die from starvation.
#1. by a fair margin, is to cut out sugar as much as possible. We used to blame fat for this, but we were entirely wrong (and fat-free products usually dump more sugar into their recipes so they don't taste as awful... which just made people even fatter.) North America puts a fair bit of sugar into breads and buns, by the way.
2. Eat regularly and on consistent schedule, but reduce portion sizes (two fists together is the most you want at a sitting) and have them be balanced meals with a variety of different types of everything... but especially vegetables. Most of us eat far too much meat and carbs, because those are the tastier parts. Eating until we feel full does not serve us well, because that signal from our stomach to our brain of "not hungry no more; this is fine" is on about a 20 minute delay.
3. Have regular activity, or exercise every day. It needn't be a 3-hour intense workout where you feel like you're going to die. Just stretch and move around rather than sit almost entirely still in a chair for half the day. (Said this nurse while typing from a Lay-z-boy chair. ;) )
