Also in my country - if you're not rich you're barely study. Only B.A.'s got scholarship easily, B.Sc.'s which harder and require much more time to study almost don't have scholarships. That's so sad, our economy will be crush in the next 20 years because of that - we're lack of 27% engineers already and people stop study due to that.
it's complicated! here in venezuela is otherwise but, it's often poor quality education and beside there a lot of professional driving a cab or opening her legs!
You'll pay more taxes, but the future generation will cover everything with good careers. So it's like investing something that will cover the investment. But also the future students will keep earn a lot and then the country can lower the taxes and then it's win-win.
i agree with this
Well I'd imagine because of how the government keeps handling people that have had enough, probably never.
when the high education is free, people often attend universities just for show. after getting graduated some dumb women get pregnant and don't work. where is the reason to waste taxes on well-educated housewives? also some dumb people choose liberal arts as their specialization - no one needs them. so I think education should't be unpaid, but it should be affordable
No, everybody should be pay at first. If the student don't get the right scores or study something that don't gives benefits to the government, the students can't get be refund by the government.
USA scholarship system is not good enough. have you seen 21 (movie)?
Yes I've seen it.
In Israel there's a system only for med drs students. There're lack of med drs, so the tuition is free only if you get the scores for 7 years. But any other student can't get those scholarship becuase drs are more important, but other fields are getting be rare also(like engineering and management). So as I see it the time not so far in the next 10-20 years the government "import" engineers and mangers from abroad- they already started. The young generation is start to work abroad due to poor payments to the demand.
So maybe the American is good but they can't pay the entire university.

im 'murica medical education is the most expensive one (in contrary)
I know because every American med dr in israel is teaching medical or hospital/department manager. In my hometown there's a med school so I met some of the stuff in a project a did there - most of them study in America but all of them came from rich families.
yeah, only reach guys can afford $300k or even more. but people consider it as an investment: further salary is really high
The US is based on capitalism and capitalism only. So when the average population pays for maintaining their cost of living, the rich and the people at a higher social rank gets all of the benefits off the sweat of working class American's brow. Who who really wins in this race? Democrats do bad to impose sales taxes under the false pretense that they're helping the poor (socialism) but is it really? Or is there a hidden agenda? While republicans rules against it, but is it really that bad to encourage the poor who rely on public assistance programs to work? And don't get me started on the plight of the high cost of living.
What does it matter if I pay the debt on my own education or the taxes on somebody else's education?
If the country want quality people they should pay their tuition, because if people with potencial won't get high scores because they were have to to work it will make their economy bad in the future.
