Ninjas dont wear masks like that and would mostly use knifes or throwing weapons like shuriken or kunai not swords to big and hard to carry around. Samurais where these masks to strike fear and show power.
Ninjas or Shinobies are rouge Samuraies who weren't want to follow the Samurai's believe to serve their Feudal master - like a medivel knight. Usually Ninajas were mercenaries and assassins for their clans and own agendas.
And they both were wear masks - Samurais for honor and position ranks, and Ninjas for secrecy and disguise.

Yeah i know that ninjas wore masks to but i doubt the mask would look like that. Of course im not a expert you taught me some stuff i did not know.
