Hm, considering her age, it wouldn't even be all that impossible!
Knew a guy, who was mentally unwell, to the point he was arrested for making death threats, and evicted from his rental (the threats were against other tenants). He was not one to accept any responsibility for his own behavior; everything was always someone else's fault.
His mom immediately paid his bail, and he disappeared. No one knew where he was or if he was alive. His mom came to us at the rental and asked why we'd pressed charges, because now her son was gone, could be anywhere, and she didn't know if he was alright, if he had anything to eat, if he was taking his medications.
We explained as gently as we could, that we reported his crimes because he had committed them, as the proper thing to do. He was running around with his drug-dealing friends now, instead of in a safe (if confining) place, not because of what we'd done, but because she'd bailed him out when he had no where to live.
(No he wasn't going to her house; he hated her guts, resented her helping him constantly. I don't recall saying he was sane, rational or reasonable).
Bail is not always something that SHOULD be paid, especially if that person has nowhere else good to go. Sometimes that person should stay in jail, where there is a roof, regular meals, and prescription medications can be dispensed.
