"Hope" is a terrible thing. "Hope" is a wish that someone else will come along and solve all our problems for us, and so we wait, and we wait, filled with hope. We convince ourselves that because our last 5 years were miserable it somehow means our next 5 will magically have to be better, because we "deserve" them to be, based on how miserable the last 5 were.
"Determination" is the opposite of hope. It is the sane and informed Decision, to change our life ourselves, rather than wait for someone else to do it for us.
Abandon hope, all of you.
