Honestly i think it have a better combat gameplay than blazblue et similae (and i'm a fan of BB) even the story background of some character is good and intriguing imho.
A good piece of game considering is a original ip and the years where take place.
I'm just annoyed about every new update is a paying dlc.

I've heard of the game but never looked into it. I can tell you that you are correct in finding this slightly confusing XD
