I think they had kind of a neat idea that looked cool for one or two photos, but then they beat it to death until it looked fake and lame.
Or put another way, it LOOKED like a CGI video-game-come-to-life effect, but then they had to ruin it by finding ways to demonstrate that it's not. :/
