If you found that dog in the northern states specifically Montana, it could be my dog. We were in the middle of moving to Texas from Colorado. My sister and I were too young to stay with our parents so we had to stay with our grandparents in Montana. One day, my grandmother went for a walk with Gilligan, our Yorkie and he didn't return with her because she didn't use a leash (she's not pet friendly) When we asked her where he was she said "He was right behind me a while ago" and then we never saw him again no matter how hard we searched.
In the end we bought a new Yorkie and renamed him Gilligan, even though he was a good dog, he wasn't as good as the original.
