And then the hermit will receive the same text... from a treant this time.
Disney's depiction of the friendship between Ariel and Flounder sure left a whole generation of confused kids behind.
What else do they think mermaids eat?

Seaweed from biological undersea farm?
Unlikely. They're a predatory species. In mythology, they lure and devour humans.
Good! so no any fish or sea animal got hurted, all is well that ends well. XD
but doesnt mythology makes harpy and mermaids into one thing?
I've never heard anything like THAT before. They're pretty distinct from each other. One half-bird, one half-fish. One lives in the mountains, one in the ocean, etc.
He is right, in some classic poem like "Eneide" mermaid are described as "half-bird and half-woman" in this poem the main group get attacked by the "mermaids" from above literally shitting over their table and foods forcing them to starve.
I was also lost when i heard about that for the first time in upper school (where this poem is typicaly studied in my country) i think back in time where the only information are oral or book there was a misidisformation about different myth and country, likely the original mermaid was a sort of harpy (also because in the oddisey their main not physical caratheristic was the melodic voice, much more easy to associate to a bird than a fish, there alo some old pots with ulisses togheter birdl-ike mermaid. If i find some screen i post it) probably the bird was converted into fish in the middle age under the influence of nordic myth.
