Why the fuck do guys think a bad comb over is going to fool anyone. I worked with one guy that combs five strands of hair over to try to hide a bald spot. His wife never liked it. He shaved his head and women started hitting on him at work.

I don't think any of them are delusional enough to think they're "fooling" anyone, or that they think 5 strands can "hide" anything; they're just operating on the belief that some hair is better than no hair. It's not a belief that is shared by many (if any) of their peers and other associates, but there's no call to assume they're imbecilic.
