I know it doesn't get anywhere close to freezing temperatures in Texas. I suppose indoor ice rinks are a possibility (but they'd probably be looked at as an oddity by the locals).
What I know of ice skating is that fake boot probably doesn't have enough ankle support to hold the blade straight. It was made as a joke, not to be used.

To hear my relatives in Texas, if it gets below 50F its a freaking calamity. My sister once called me to bitch when the temp dropped into the lower 40's twice in one week.
