Weird trivia: The word they actually use to mean "slut" in modern Japanese is "bitch". Seriously, its so pervasive pretty much every living human over there "knows" that "bitch" means "a dumb girl/woman who will have sex with anyone for no particular reason".
They like borrowing our words, but they don't always grasp exactly how we're using them... then the "new word" takes on a life of it's own.
For another one: "pants" means underwear.
I'm pretty sure what happened there was they heard the word "underpants" and shortened it, but in doing so lost the real meaning.
...and even we don't use these words correctly. For example, a "slut" is a woman that will have sex with anyone, including me. A "bitch" is a woman that will have sex with anyone BUT me....
