No, the storylines are separate. But I think the ending is really unique in gaming.

Hard Mode. It took me about 25 hours to get through it satisfactorily. I collect all collectibles and explore thoroughly. :-D

I know what you mean. Some long games DO get boring. But not Bioshock! :-D
