Hopefully, Opera will be dead by then
Do you hate Opera? firefox only? (:
Come on, you know what I meant. :-)
yes, I know. but I think opera is the eternal thing
I grew up watching Star Trek TNG. At several points there are classical music concerts. I remember thinking, "why don't they play any music that *I* like in the future? Where's the episode where they're turning the holodeck into a club pumping out Hiphop and Dance music?"
Well, I'm almost 40 now, and I understand.
My dad's rock&roll isn't played on the popular stations anymore. Neither is the rap or "alternative" music I loved in my teen years. It's only been a few decades and the music of our youth is relegated to "oldies" stations. When we who loved it have all passed on, there'll probably almost never again be a request made for these songs to be played, even out of nostalgia.
Classical music is literally centuries old... and is STILL known and in circulation. It has already PROVEN it's staying power and relevance. 200 years in the future, I can't realistically expect anyone to know who the hell Vanilla Ice is, but I bet they still know Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach!
