A few such "accidents" and nobody will use this cars -> no money. So such will never happen.
That's incredibly naive. There are hundreds of accidents a day in North America, and yet, somehow the need to get to work, or the grocery store, doesn't magically vanish.
All that is required to force us to use self-driving cars is to stop producing the driven ones. We will eventually have no other options.
