My mother is the photosensitive kind of visually impaired; can't open her eyes in normal light levels without being blinded. She spent nearly $1000 on various sunglasses trying to find or have made ones dark enough to let her go outside. Then our handy uncle brought over something new for her to try; welding goggles ($30). It's a thick green plastic rectangle about the size of a brick, with a window on the front that looks black to anyone else. It was perfect.
Now when I take her places, it looks like I'm leading around a Scuba Diver.
