I'm not sure I'd put it that poorly... but our culture has spent decades teaching women that their half of a marriage contract/relationship is optional. They expect men to bring everything to the table and just be grateful for the opportunity to bask in their presence until they get bored with us. That is NOT a relationship of equals.
