Sure, there were pieces of the iPhone in existence when it came out, but to put the pieces together and make it fun to use was a technological triumph. RIM, for one, thought Apple was lying about the specs. A lot of smart people thought the iPhone was still years away. Heck, if it was so easy, you'd have made one. All the ideas were already here, right?

Once Apple laid down the roadmap for a modern smartphone, Android became much easier to develop.

apple created the awesome concept and the perfect device in 2007
and now, after 5 years of evolutions, we couldn't compare iphone and android devices. iPhone is much better =)
