My father shares a small-business office that was converted from a Manse (traditional priest's residence, built next to a church, not often used in modern times) with other members of his company. The manse is a 100 year old historic building.
One day we heard something in the attic and had to figure out how to get up there (in whose personal office was the hidden ceiling trap door that pulls down into a ladder.) It took a while, since no one working out of that office had ever had reason to go up there in the entire time they'd been renting the building.
When we did, we found a life-capture pest-control cage. You know, the kind meant to humanely capture pest animals and release them outside somewhere?
Left inside was a tiny squirrel skeleton, dead for more than a decade.
I don't think it counts as "humane" anymore if no one remembers to check the trap. :P
