I would point out Tom Cruise was not a samurai but rather acting as a civil war captain that was captured in battle. Tony Mendez was born in the United States and his father was of Mexican descent, and his mother had Italian, French, and Irish ancestry making him a "typical" US citizen. Mendez's father died when he was very young and he never knew his hispanic heritage. When John Wayne did "The Conqueror", and it was an awful movie, there were no leading asian actors in Hollywood's stable and there still aren't that could fill such a role. I would also point out that Hollywood choose some really big name hispanic actors for some of the leading "asian" roles in that movie. So the meme and cartoon are a bit skewed....Oh and Ben Affleck sucks.
Yeah. Good luck getting people to watch you SJW movies. Because the new Ghost Busters and Ocean's 8 did sooooo well.
I think that is more a matter of doing remake/reboots. Some movies you just can't do it that with. Madonna wanted to do a remake of "Casablanca" and Hollywood told her to piss off. There has been no reboots of "Casablanca", "Citizen Kane", or "Gone with the Wind" and so many others. On the other hand the Cohen Brothers remake of "True Grit" was praised highly in light of it more closely parallelling the book.
This ain't about SJW, or switching genders, this was about race. Especially movies with all white casting where the setting of the movie takes place in non white areas. Like God's of Egypt and all the movies that came out before, almost 100 years of it. Imagine making a movie about the Queen of England and everyone is Hispanic. Maybe a movie about the King of Scotland and the entire cast is Chinese. This is basically what happens in except the entire cast is white.
